Hi,

i'm trying to install DNN 4.5. i've downloaded the relevat package to install but am clueless as to how to installit. you talk here of the 'installation documentation in the doumentation downnload'. i can see documentation downloads for every other version of DNN exccept the latest one. am i missing something? i'm going slightly insane trying to find it.

where exactly can i download the installation documentation?

Rowena,

The installation documentation is at Documentation > Starter Kit > Welcome.htm in the zip you downloaded. I had exactly the same problem just trying to get started.

They don't have a documentation package for anything later than 4.4.1. It is better than nothing and will point you in the right direction, but if you hit a wall, you pretty much just have to post to the forums. Another tip, I've learned you can often get better search results from the DNN forums using Google because the forum search function is not too robust.

if you are running xp pro you need to change appliction protection to low in iis, for other (win 2003 you need to set to classic or just play with iisprotection level).

you need to restart iis after each change.

for some reason this doesn;t appear as problem for dnn 3.3.7 (net 1.1 framework 1.x) but it's a problem for dotnet framefwork 2.xx; for some reason it doesn't work with

protection set to medium or high.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
