I want to start playing with DotNetNuke in VS2005, but can't get started. When I open the sln file, it complains about not being able to find http://localhost/DotNetNuke_2. I'd like to get it running with the VS2005 built-in development server rather than setting up IIS. Is this possible and, if so, how is it down.

Why does opening the sln file try and connect me to a server anyway?!

Thanks.

Steven:

Bear in mind that you DO NOT need the source version of DNN to get going with it, this confuses a lot of people initially.  That is, unless you want to modify the DNN Core itself (which I'd recommend you to avoid).

If your interest is to install DNN to develop modules, do follow Michael's tutorials, they are excellent and if you have experience with VS/ASP.Net you will get going very quickly.

Hi
The problem what u r having now is the same problem what I have faced before. So ,to play with DotNetNuke in VS2005 You need to extract the source code in some folder and open the .sln file in notepad and change the path(2 times) from http://localhost/DotNetNuke_2 to the address at which your site is running.
Now play with DotNetNuke .

Enjoy.....
