I solved the problem by changing the connection string to the followng "Data Source=67.19.23.66;Initial Catalog=mhrdnn;User Id=mhrdnn;Password=xxx;"

I actually got this to work by adding the ASPNET user-id as db_owner in the DotNetNuke database that I manually created.  My server is setup for SQL Server and Windows authentication mode so I ended up removing the uid and pwd and using the following connection string:

It also connects when I use the user/password login in the connection string.

thanks...

This worked for me too... Thanks!  I just wish I understood why.  :)  This is a first ASP anything for me which might explain it.

Actually, it was a combination of the above settings and being aware of what is commented and what isn't.  I had to remove the two connection strings for SQL Express.

Also, when following the Install Guide, instead of creating a new SQL user and giving permissions, I added NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE as a db_owner for the database.
