Check that the ASP.NET framework (Version 2 if using DNN 4.x) has been properly installed/registered on your system.

I'm having a similar problem to this. Have finally completed the install process (a complete nightmare of problems that has taken the whole day) and have the default page of my first portal up. If I click on any link on the page, I get the following error text:

XML Parsing Error: no element found
Location: http://127.0.0.1/Home/tabid/36/ctl/Login/Default.aspx?returnurl=%2fdefault.aspx
Line Number 1, Column 1:

Running IIS on Vista with .Net 2.0. Have tried the aspnet_regiis trick but the problem still remains. Anyone have any further ideas? Thanks for any help!
