I'm new to DNN and have been assigned the task of setting up a blog on an existing DNN site. My question regards assinging roles for bloggers. I want to set up a blog that can have entries added by two specific users (neither of whom is me). Can I set up a blog for another user? And can I set the blog up so that two users can both update and maintain it? Or would I need to create a new username and password for both of the intended bloggers to share?

I appreciate any help with this as I'm not having much luck with the standard instructions.

Thanks,

Sean

I've been struggling with how to set up roles for a blog -- have searched and searched the forums -- this is the only post I can find that simulates my situation and it's 8 months old with no answer.  I see a post that says setting up roles involves a couple of the "installed modules" -- i.e., ROLL nad MENU -- neither of which are in my installation (4.06.)

Currently the only person who can add a blog post is an Administsrator -- I cannot assign/create a role that allows someone else to post to the blog.  Is there something missing from this module?

This issue has caused me a lot of pain too.  I'd like to have 3 or 4 Blog topics and allow several bloggers to post to any one of those blogs but I don't think it's possible with this module.   It looks like you can allow each user to have a blog with the same name, but then I don't think you could blend all of the blog "A's" and blog "B's" together; either by entries or by a search.

I hope this functionality is added in a future version because for one of my projects it's preventing me from using DNN.  Or maybe, (hopefully) the functionality I'm looking for is there somewhere and I just haven't figured it out yet?

I have not been able to find a way to do this either. I wanted to create a BLOG that our entire DB team could contribute to but cannot find a way. At this point, unless someone can provide me way to do it, I will try to find another Blog module that meets my needs.

Hi,

Keep your eyes peeled on the Announce IT forum.  In the coming days we will be releasing a module that will allow you to assign Role security to the DNN Blog.  The only catch is that you will have to post your blog entry using Windows LiveWriter!

Thanks,
Mike
