I am doing some dry runs of updating from DNN3.1.1 to 4.4.1. The 3.1.1 instance is using the FCK editor with no issues.  As part of the upgrade process I am upgrading the editor provider to 1.00.07.
The editor works for entering text.  However, if you select 'Show custom controls' you are presented all the custom controls on the page but the main SolPart menu as well as the other page elements disappear.  i.e. all you see on the page are the FCK custom options, where in DNN3.1.1 you saw the editor itself as well as the other page elements.
After making changes to the custom options and clicking 'apply' a postback occurs but you aren't taken back to the view of the page that presents the main editor window, this is the main problem.
However, if you either use the browser back button or open a new browser window/tab to the site the custom options we saved are in force.
I am seeing this using various skins and in IE7 as well as FF2.0.0.3
Any ideas?
TIA
Antony

Yes I do mean the "Custom editor options"
When I click the "Custom editor options" link under the text editor the page changes so ONLY the custom options are shown as per the screen shot at http://webs.webpc.net/fckeditor_CustomSettings.png.
After making changes to the custom options and clicking the 'Apply' link at the bottom the page does a postback but stays in the same view.  It doesn't take you back to the view where you can edit content.
The changes to the custom options are being saved.
Hope this is a better explanation.

mmm... it seems that some kind of error is at behind. Please do the following:

1) check if an error appears in your log after pressing the apply button

2) Post your DNN version and provider version here

3) Are you using any other kind of special modules? (Page blaster, http compression, etc..etc..etc...) I need to know about any possible module that installs like a httphandler or httpmodule

4) Please try from another client machine and see if the error persists

5) Some times people don't update the java machine and this could cause problems because asp.net works with javascript. Please update your java from www.java.com and try again

Thanks for the response.
Answers are as follows:

1) No error is appearing in the logs.  After pressing the apply button you get a "Settings successfully applied" message displayed.

2)DNN 4.4.1 Provider:1.0.7.24421 (from dll properties)

3)The install has a range of 3rd party modules.  The ones that are referenced in the web.config  are Catalook,  Dnn-Modules mailing list enterprise and NSurvey, I am also using Scott's friendly URL dll.  I am not using any 3rd party compression.  When doing the upgrade I upgraded existing modules and didn't add any new ones.  The FCKeditor was also in place before the upgrade using version 1.0.4.42592 of the dll and working (and still is on the production server).

4)I have tried from various workstations and all are seeing the same issue.

5)I installed the latest version but it hasn't fixed the problem.

Hope the above is helpful and I look forward to hearing from you.

Antony
