I was struck by the oddness of this error so took a look at the version 4.5 \App_Code\Global.asax.vb to try to determine why AssemblyPath was not declared. This section of code does NOT exist in version 4.5. I then looked at version 4.4.1 Global.asax.vb and found the section of code.  It appears that when the version 4.5 files were unzipped or uploaded over those of 4.4.1, Global.asax.vb did not get updated.  I'd check the create/modify dates of all files to see if this problem might have occured elsewhere and also try unzipping the 4.5 files again.  Be careful to preserve your web.config changes as before.

Thanks Bill, I'll look in to that.  I used the upgrade version of 4.5.  I'm wondering if maybe it was missing in that version and if I should be using the install version?

Thanks again for the suggestion on the global deal.  I simply re-upped the entire 4.5 upgrade in hopes that any files that might not have been updated properly were, and voila things seem to be working!

I just thought I would contribute here in case it helps anyone else. I too had a similar problem when applying the upgrade from 4.4.1 to 4.5.0. I don't remember the exact error but is was a compile error and did occur in Global.asax.vb. I simply reapplied the upgrade using the complete source package and everything upgraded properly.
