I've installed DNN 4.5 and am running IIS 6.0.   I have a Database called INSIDER2 where the config file is drected.  Everything seems to have installed correctly, yet when I hit the "Home" tab or the "Register/Login" links, I get a page cannot be found.

http://insider-2/insider/Home/tabid/37/Default.aspx

The above site will be used as a Company Intranet System.  I have two sites running from the same IP, yet have different DNS entries to manage this.  I'm at a loss as to why the "home" page comes up with http://insider-2/insider , yet fails from the above URL?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

please specify your IIS web site or virtual directory settings. and do not mix this up with your database configuration, please.

leupold,

Thanks for touching base.  I was able to resolve the issue, which appears to be related to IIS 6 installed on Windows 2000 running SQL Server 2000 and not having updated service packs installed.  By going into the DNN HostSettings table, and changing the useFriendlyURL value to "N", the problem was resolved.  It does require a restart of IIS or a renaming of the web.config file to trigger an error/work around, which I wasn't interested in trying.

Sincerely,
Doug Donaldson

leupold,

it would appear I spoke too soon.  I'm now unable to click any link references which have been uploaded or created from within a module.  each link gives a page cannot be found error.

EXAMPLE: http://insider-2/Insider/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=1mpTgZF7DwM%3d&tabid=54&mid=371

When I hit a hard URL:  http://insider-2/insider/images/banner.gif   it comes up fine.

I've switched back to userFriendlyURLs = "Y"  so my original problem is back.  I'm not quite sure which information you're looking for in IIS regarding the web site/virual directory settings.   Properties reveals everything seems straightforward.  Insider-2 = Web Site Description   |  IP = 10.32.0.81  |  under Advanced Web Site Identification I have an entry of 10.32.0.81 as the IP Port = 80 and http header = insider-2   Permissions are set to "form" authentication and all IP addresses are granted.

Thank you for your assistance as it's greatly appreciated.

the link looks correct, as it will be handled by the DotNetNuke link handler. Are all other navigation work correctly, links to external addresses and files?
