I have a custom profile provider that relies on the user.username object - pre v4.5.0 this came populated, but now i see that it is not populated - only the userId is populated.  Why the change?  I use a single sign on service that spans across multiple dotnetnuke applications, and because each application creates its own users - I need to rely on a universal unique key - for that I've been using the username (which I do not allow users to change after sign-in).

Can anyone shed light on what happened that the userInfo object is no longer completely populated by the time it gets to the profile provider?

i fixed this by implementing a custom SQL lookup to retreive the username from a userid and portalid.  I can't use the existing GetUser routine because in some way or another the GetProfile routine seems to be called within it (that's my best guess- because an attempt at populating the userinfo object inside of GetProfile quickly opens up a few hundred SQL connections and i get a sql error)...

It's frustrating that I had to go around the existing data layer to solve this problem  -  maybe I missed something?  after having spent two hours on this i was unable to figure out why the userinfo object didn't have a username in it to begin with -- I just came to this solution as an 'i dont want to spend any more time on this now' workaround.

any ideas on why the userinfo object has only the userid populated would certainly be appreciated :)

Not clear what is happening here.

You need to be more clear on what you are doing.

The membership Module manages loading the current user and it uses the username?

How are you getting the "User"?
