Silly issue. I've installed 4.5.1 starter kit, built a module. Every now and then when I build the solution or project (CTRL-F5) VS2005 chucks a new web.config under the module folder for good measure which sends things awol (delete it and all is fine).
Note I have set the default startup project as the main DNN build, and put in settings for IIS URL path and start page.

Also note there are no virtual directories under IIS or anything. Just a folder for the main website.

Any idea why this odd behaviour is happening and how to stop it?

Cheers...

Wow I have never seen that. you're not building the project each time you make a change, right?

I only use "Build Page" to build the current page I'm working on to detect any build errors. For my class files in the App_Code directory I just save the page and refresh the web browser. Only in rare cases do I build the entire site.

Some 3rd party controls create web.config within the module folder. Specially when their features can be configured through a web.config file.

Yes but not on the module I'm building I hope :). I'm rarely building the project (just saving as I go along), but I'm just curious as to why the behaviour happens. I was wondering if there was a setting I was missing. It's very intermittent when I build (does not happen all the time).

Maybe there's a mini quantum micro universe in my project that's attempting to manifest itself? Just a thought....

Using AJAX, I only see this problem when using the AJAX library and also the toolkit controls.
