Hi John Mitchell,

Everyone seems to be successful with using your template solution but me.

I am using DNN 4.5.3, I downloaded your template, unzipped the file, renamed to old one and placed it in the directory you mentioned.

For those who are unfamilliar, the portal.template.xsd file should be placed in the <root>/admin/Portal folder.

I close all Browsers to eliminate caching.

I then make a new Template but when I use it to create a new Portal I get the following errors.

Templates are very important to me.  Could you help me figure out why your solution is not working for me.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Yours is a different error.

It's happening when trying to add permissions for a module.

You could open your template, and go step by step on a test install by removing modules from the template until it works.

Once you find the bad one, then you can remove just that one, or maybe find a way to make it work.

One hint I can give is to look closely at the permissions that are included in the template with each module and you may find one that stands out as a duplicate.

Thanks John,

Thanks for answering me question.  I am not a vb programmer so I will have to roll up my sleaves and do trial and error based on you tip.  I will make sure that any of the modules I have are not permission specific in the template.  It is a good place to start.

Thanks,

Mike

I just started with a fresh install of dnn 4.5.4 and tried to export a portal template file and then use that exported template file using the admin>site wizard. When i tried to run the wizard with the aforementioned template and i get a message that "X" is not a valid portal template.

I tried the replacement XSD from this thread and it didn't work. Has anyone else run into this with 4.5.4?

Thanks,

Hi Jim,

I just found that problem late last night.  There is a new property in the Tabs for SSL causing this bug.

I have updated the attachment at the following thread to correct this new error.

Fix for: Not a valid Portal Template File
