Hi Sebastian

I am still trying to get this upgrade working. The 04.04.00.log file simply said

Error: HelpURL

What should I do next? Any suggestions, much appreciated.

I have the exact same problem.  I attempted the upgrade from 3.3.1 to 4.5.1. 

I found your instructions Sebatien and used them.

I get the same error log message.  However I was reassured by the 'Upgrade uscceeded' message.  When I attempted to access the portal my w3p.exe process went to 50% CPU usage and stayed there.  I suspect this is a single thread in a hard loop on my dual core machine - ie 100% usage of one processor core.

I'm out of ideas!  Anyone?

I just had another try.  This time I was slightly less ambitions and went from 3.3.1 to 4.4.1.

The whine about helpURL did not show up.

After upgrade I get the same appearance of a hanging process.  On closer inspection the CPU usage is up and down a lot but includes w3wp.exe at about 40% and sqlserver at about 1 to 5%.  It's had about 10 minutes now and is showing no sign of doing anything good.

Is this a known problem?  Is there a workaround?

I have a workaround for my hanging issue in the 4.4.1 upgrade.  I used Sql Server profile and found that is was repeatedly issuing

exec dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID @PortalID=0

Acting on a hiunch I tries accessing the portal from another machine.  On the server I have used localhost to access it and maybe that is not a suitbaly mapped portlaid.  Anyhow it worked.  I'm off to try a 4.4.1 to 4.5.1 upgrade on it now...
