Has anyone successfully solved this error aside from changing DBO's yet?  I'm sitting on a contract and have no clue how to fix the error that seems to loop forever.

I've tried everything I can think of now.  Next on my list is changing the DBO to the plesk user and not the SQL user I created for the database owner.  My MSSQL server isn't tied into Plesk in any way so I dont see how it could help, unless running SQL scripts under a plesk owned virtual directory needs its own user to have permissions.

And lastly I will have to drive to Colorado and throw my dedicated box through a window :)

After strugglling with this same issue since yesterday, I just got it to install. I deleted both the web.config and release.config. I then renamed the development.config to web.config. I opened the config file and typed my connection string in the two required places (Server=myserver;Database=dnn_db;uid=dnn_usr;pwd:dnn_pwd;). I then went to the site's url in my browser and the installation script ran. Everything is there. I used the installation package for 4.5.1 on a Windows 2003 Server with a Sql Server 2005 db. Hope this helps.

On looking into it further, I noticed something. I am not sure if this has anything to do with the issue, but I thought I would mention it. When I originally ran the Installation Wizard (with the original web.config in place), the wizard said that my database connection tested succesfully. I clicked next and got caught in the 'Installing Scripts' loop others mentioned. When I looked in the web.config, I saw this line:

<add name="SqlDataProvider" type="DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider, DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider" connectionStringName="SiteSqlServer" upgradeConnectionString="" providerPath="~\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\" objectQualifier="dnn_db" databaseOwner="dnn_usr" />

After I did what I outlined in my previous post, that same line now says:

<add name="SqlDataProvider" type="DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider, DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider" connectionStringName="SiteSqlServer" upgradeConnectionString="" providerPath="~\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\" objectQualifier="dnn_" databaseOwner="dbo" />

Just to be clear, my user (dnn_usr) is set up with dbo rights and is the database owner, but it still would not install. I am too relieved to have finally gotten it installed to uninstall it and see if changing that line in the original web.config would allow it to install properly. I hope all this helps.

Ahh man thanks a LOT.  That method also worked for me.  Two weeks and 14 reinstalls with modded configurations and all i needed to do was use a different config file.  Typical hehe.

One thing though.  Isn't the development.config file less secure than the release.config?  I don't know a whole lot about ASP.NET security (I know enough to get by).  Is there anything I should watch out for or change within the dev.config before pushing the site live?

Once again thanks a bunch for the fix.

I figured out you can not use a number to start the in the objectQualifier name (i.e. 4everDNN_) once changed to DNN4ever_ everything worked as expected.
