I am having a really bad DNN day. I can not get DNN to work on a new IIS server I just installed. The DNN is installed and working only on the IIS server machine. I can not access the DNN web site from the Internet or another machine on the LAN. I can access the IIS default.htm page however not the DNN default.aspx page. I have setup IIS servers before and this appears to be a permissions issue because I am receiving the "HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden". Can anyone help me figure this out?

1) Is DNN installed as a VD under the root or is it setup so it is a separate web site?

2) What is the URL you are hitting to access the IIS default.aspx?

3) What is the URL you are hitting the DNN default.aspx?

4) Make sure either the ASPNet (IIS 5) or NetworkService (IIS6) has List, Read, Execute, Write & Modify access to the root DNN directory and all the sub-directories.

New box? Make sure ASP.Net is installed/enabled. (the .Net Framework is a separate install on a new box) Is there an ASP.Net tab on your website settings?

If I understand correctly you are able to access the website correctly if you are on the IIS server.  If that is the case most likely your issue is with the portal alias for your installation.

If you installed dotnetnuke by going to the site from localhost an alias was added for localhost, but not other alias exists, you will need to add one for the actual url, or IP address (depending on your desired access method) for the website to work.

You can do this in two ways.  Loign as host via the IIS server and under portal settings you can add an alias.  Or you can directly add it to the database via the portalalias table.
