Mitchael,

Opening directly from within VS through Cassini worked. I will try adding an alias and test IIS.

Now I've another problem that maybe you have insite on. I added all the modules in DNN and have gone into VS to add the Simple Module http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN_ShowMeThePages/Super_Simple2.htm

When I build the site I get these error messages:
Error 1 File 'EditEntry.ascx.vb' was not found. C:\websites\DNNModules\DesktopModules\Blog\EditEntry.ascx 1 63 C:\websites\DNNModules\

Error 7 Validation (XHTML 1.0 Transitional): This name contains uppercase characters, which is not allowed. C:\websites\DNNModules\DesktopModules\Blog\EditEntry.ascx 16 20 C:\websites\DNNModules\

I am not sure where to go from here.

Thanks for your help, Chris

Regarding these issues...the first error is noting that you are missing a VB file....and well that doesn't necessarily suprise me.  You  should be able to get the file by downloading the blog source version.  The second error is a schema validation error and is no stopping your build.

Personally I have never actually built the full dnn 4.x soluton.  I have been using the WAP method for developing my modules and haven't bothered with building the source as it has never worked for me the times I have tried as I kept getting errors just like the one you mentioned above...

Weird, been building full project source since 4.0.3 and have never had a problem!

Yeah I don't get it either....and I guess I haven't been concerned enough to ever spend time diagnosing it....

Mitchel,

What is the WAP method? How does it work? How do I learn it? I need to get on with development if you know what I mean.

Chris,

It is a method of developing modules where you module is in it's own project and you don't have to have it all integrated into the DNN solution.

Michael Washington has the best tutorials on it as of right now, you can view them on his site http://dotnetnuke.adefwebserver.com
