Hi

I'm trying to make one or two of the FCK dialogues open larger than they do. In particular, the one that opens when you click the 'Insert Image" toolbar button. I want that bigger because in IE, and with OptionsOpenMode="ShowModalDialog" set in web.config, the popup cannot be resized. In Firefox it can be resized, but I'd prefer it bigger from the start.

I've been digging through loads of files in the FCK folder but can't figure out how to make it open larger by default.

Anyone else managed this?

Rob

Hi Rob,

Are you referring to the dialogue box where you can add a url, height, width, border, etc.?, or are you referring to the image browser where images are viewed?  I know the image and links browser are resizable from the fckconfig.js.

Hi Paul, thanks for the reply.

I mean the first ones you mention.. the ones that are part of FCK rather than the ones Locopon added.

I've tried many things in the fckconfig.js but nothing seems to stick. In there is this section:

FCKConfig.ImageBrowser = true ;
FCKConfig.ImageBrowserURL = FCKConfig.BasePath + 'filemanager/browser/default/browser.html?Type=Image&Connector=connectors/asp/connector.asp' ;
FCKConfig.ImageBrowserWindowWidth  = FCKConfig.ScreenWidth * 0.7 ; // 70% ;
FCKConfig.ImageBrowserWindowHeight = FCKConfig.ScreenHeight * 0.7 ; // 70% ;

I've repeatedly tried things like changing "0.7" to 1.0 or 2.0 but it doesn't have any affect. I am clearing the cache completely and checking in both browsers.

I've also tried fixed values like this for no result:
FCKConfig.ImageBrowserWindowWidth  = 600 ;

Any further ideas are appreciated,

Rob

Hi Rob,

I'm no FCK pro, but can you not change it through the UI for that particular instance when logged in as Admin? I set all my toolbars to be non-expanded for the portal except for the Forums as it loads faster and takes up too much space. I noticed a width attribute in the custom setttings- have not tried it yet.

Hi Rodney, thanks for the reply.

That setting is for the actual FCK editor itself. The bit I'm referring to is the size of the pop-up dialogue that appears when the "Insert Image" button in FCK is clicked. It's the same button as is in this very forum editor right here... with the little mountains on it. I'll put up some screengrabs so people know exactly what the issue is.

Here's the editor as it opens in IE. It's not re-sizable in this mode and the real issue is that the preview window inside it is far to small to make it clear to the user what the alignment option is doing. It only adds more confusion rather than assisting anything.

Note how I also change all the wording in the dialogue. This is to make things more clear to people who are not all that computer-savvy, but may have been tasked with editing content on a site. Terminology such as "Alternate text" and Vspace" are inappropriate. In the drop-down I also remove all the funny bits like Abs Bottom and Baseline and simply leave "Bottom".... I'm getting side-tracked here, but that should clarify my motivation.

And here it is in Firefox. Now it is re-sizable, but resizing is only useful for users who are clever enough to think that they should do that - And that's not a lot of people in my experience with clients. It's surprising how many people don't even know that a window can be resized, or haven't got the confidence to try it.

And here it is resized as I would like it to be as soon as it is opened. The preview area now shows something useful.

I'll have a dig around Sourceforge as well now and see if I can find a solution.

Rob
