Would that have been required with the upgrade? It worked prior to the upgrade. I can assign permissions since it is hosted by someone else (re-invent).

It's a quite easy answer - you can not decrypt/encrypt the passwords from the database. As a consequence is you can not login as a host or an admins (and I think registered users too). You made an error during the update - not the update process itself. You forgot one or more essential requirements for a vital update.
The worst case happens is when you didn't copy the machinekey tag from the web.config. So far I know you can't fix this situation after the update.
Before I asked about the ASPNET user and its permissions - I've seen a very strange situation at the end I found out that the user copied the old version over his new and of course didn't work. The new has not assigned the ASPNET user. It was for me the first indication
I hope you've a backup (DNN + database). Then just do the update again.

I think you misunderstood the problem. The host, admins, etc can log in. Its if they are logged in as a host or admin and go to a page with the Account Login module (like when you edit a page and it shows even though you are logged in) then the page wont render and just hangs.

I figured out the settings issue. Still cant figure out why any page with the Account Login module on it hangs for Admins. Ideas?

Looks like the Account login module was broken in the version 4.5.2. I did an upgrade from 4.4.1 to 4.5.2. Everything was fine, until I used the account login module.... I have no choice, and deleted using a sql command.

Looks like I will wait for the 4.5.3 to be used in my main website...(even DNN is not using 4.5.2...they keep it with 4.5.2.rc1...maybe it is the same...maybe not)

regards,

Alfonso

Even a fresh install of 4.5.2 fails when you place an Account Login on the Home Page.

Tried multiple times - definitely a bug.  Will revert to 4.5.1 until addressed!
