Hi

I am trying to add a site map to Google but I am getting errors:

The Sitemap must be located at http://www.THENAMEOFMYSITE/. To add a Sitemap at http://www.THENAMEOFMYSITE.sitemap.xml/, first add that site to your account and then click the Add a Sitemap link beside it.

I have created a MySiteName.xml file and put it in my site root, (DNN 4.5.3) what more do I need to do?

Thanks

In order to add your sitemap to google sitemaps,  you must specify http://www.yoursite.com/SiteMaps.aspx url

I am not even sure what are you referring to in your message - MyStieName.xml? what is it for?

Googles instructions reference using a .xml file, you will actually be linking to the sitemap.aspx file but it will still work just fine!

Right. it even says "i.e. blah-blah..."

Different issue on the topic. SiteMaps.aspx reference www.dontnetnuke.com at the end which results in the following Google parsing error:

This Sitemap has the following errors:

Errors
Line:
184 URL not allowed
This url is not allowed for a Sitemap at this location.    [?]
URL:
Date found:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com
Jun 7, 2007

I am sure I can remove it, question is can something be done about it WITHOUT changing the code/ascx file itself?

In Host > Host Settings - Turn off "Show Copyrights" to remove that invalid link back to DotNetNuke.com
