Hi There

I'm working on install a portal on UNC folder, (the website path point to a shared folder on a remote server) it works fine, but as long as I add multip portal through host--> portals, it gets me weird error as follows:

Unhandled error loading module.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Unhandled Error Adding Module to ContentPane ---> System.Web.HttpException: Failed to start monitoring changes to '\\cainis\sites\DNN451.new\Website\admin\Portal\App_LocalResources' because the network BIOS command limit has been reached. For more information on this error, please refer to Microsoft knowledge base article 810886. Hosting on a UNC share is not supported for the Windows XP Platform. at System.Web.DirMonCompletion..ctor(DirectoryMonitor dirMon, String dir, Boolean watchSubtree, UInt32 notifyFilter) at System.Web.DirectoryMonitor.StartMonitoring() at System.Web.DirectoryMonitor.StartMonitoringFile(String file, FileChangeEventHandler callback, String alias) at System.Web.FileChangesMonitor.ListenToSubdirectoryChanges(String dirRoot, String dirToListenTo) at System.Web.FileChangesMonitor.StartListeningToLocalResourcesDirectory(VirtualPath virtualDir) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.EnsureFirstTimeDirectoryInit(VirtualPath virtualDir) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetBuildResultFromCacheInternal(String cacheKey, Boolean keyFromVPP, VirtualPath virtualPath, Int64 hashCode) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultFromCacheInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.InjectModule(Control objPane, ModuleInfo objModule, PortalSettings PortalSettings) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I read through the microsoft support article, and change the maxcmd, MaxMpxCt value, rebooted the iis server and file server, doesn't work still.

Does anyone have any suggestion on it? or the UNC doesn't support host multi portals on same application path?

Please advice. Thanks a lot.

Niki

My guess is that it is a limitation on XP, it sounds like you are hosting this on a XP based machine?

There are external communication limits with XP and it appears that you might have hit one of them!

I have never noticed or seen this issue before...

I tried to google it as well and didn't come up with anything.
