Create a local user on each machine with the same username and same password.

Even so I get a 404 error. This is odd, I can access a plain html page by browsing to the site (localhost) but I cannot access aspx. I proved that IIS is configured to run asp.net by installing a local instance of DNN on the webhead. I added the user to the temporary asp.net files folder, what would be causing aspx not to run on a UNC share???

any thoughts?

I'm not sure why you would get a 404 when using a UNC share.

Have you followed the guidelines in this doc?:

Yes and I've tried multiple combinations of domain user, local user etc. I'm beginning to wonder if it's an OS problem as I'm running Windows 2003 R2. Is there some policy preventing me from connecting to a remote share??

After extensive troubleshooting, exhaustive checking of configurations/permissions... our venerable DNN guru has pointed us to the following post which seems to suggest the file caching problem we described previously is a known DNN issue...

Will now implement the suggested workarounds i.e. change to broadcast/polling provider - would be great if this was fixed in DNN 4.5.4
