We switched  to broadcastpolling caching provider with some success after big problems with the filebasedcahing provider but frequently one of  the three webheads in the farm get's behind the others in the 'lastpolldate' value in the 'servers' table which is what the purgebroadcasts sp looks at before purging old records

Huge numbers of records quickly build up in the broadcast table making the site slow down - have to manually run the purgebroadcast sp when servers eventually catch up...

Should the purgebroadcast scheduled task be run on one or all webheads in the farm...?

Are there any other performance considerations - sites receives +/-600,000 UB's a month - spending a great deal of time on maintenance

Does anyone run tours of larger DNN webfarm installations to show/discuss best practise / recommended configs?

I have switched to BroadcastPolling too. We were filling the logs with errors related to apparent permissions "can't access cache\filename". I haven't seen any issues yet with Broadcast Polling but the more I get into the whole caching area, the more I realize I don't know.

For example;

in each portal directory is a cache folder and all the files begin with "TabModule...", what are these cache files exactly? Are these files that should be backed up?

wrightnz refers to a purgebroadcast scheduled task, I don't have that in my schedule but I am using BroadcastPolling. I also don't have a purgebroadcast sp.

wrightnz which table are you referring to that has the broadcast polls?

More questions later...
