I am trying to set up a new install for dotnetnuke. I get an error -could not connect to database .......

I have the following line in web.config - does it look right? SQL server is running on a server called hgs-svr-005, but dotnetnuke is on hgs-svr-004

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=hgs-svr-005;Database=Dotnetnuke;uid=dotnet92;pwd=dotnet29;" />

Ya, that looks right.  Make sure that the server is using Mixed Mode authentication though.

Make sure that the computer you are running IIS on can actually get to the DB server called hgs-svr-005.  That's a host name or a named pipe.  IE you have set up enterprise server to be able to connect to the server just specifing hgs-svr-005.  You might need to add that name to the host file.  after you checked the authentication type if that doesn't work try the IP address of the SQL Server.  If the DB is listening on a port other than 1433 then you need to specify that also.

Cheers,
