Hi,

I'm creating pages and giving link type as ""  ,  so that  I can  place a  link  in the  menu for  a  file.

Now I want to open this file in new window on click of the link.

I tried some of the possobilities by enabling Visible =True for NewWindow checkbox available in the " ~\controls\urlcontrol.ascx" , but this controls is visible at the time of adding page, but no use.

Is there any way to achieve this?

thanks for any help.

Regards,

Jaxx

afaik the only way to do this is to change the link type to "URL", and rewrite the link to make use of a simple javascript. That would look something like this:

j a v a s c r i p t : window.open("[full url to your file]", "[your document name]");

(remove spaces in javascript)

Hi,

Thanks for you help. It really helps.

But If I do like this, I should hard code the URL in the portal, which will become difficult for deployment, if my client want to change the virtual folder name.

Is there any way to avoid this?

Thanks for any help.

Regards,

Jaxx

AFAIK there is no workaround in the core that would suit you, there might be third party modules around though. for instance a module that does redirecting would be an option. you then could just open another page of the portal in a new window, and have that page redirect to your document
