After 2 days of playing and reading and searching I have given up.

If the answer is someplace just point me to it.

I am net to DotNetNuke and to ASP for that matter. Ihve some C# experinece but mostly php and mysql.

Anyway. I want the blog module. and I can not fihure out how to get it so peopkle who are registed to add a blog , much less any of the rest of it. I did get Blog added but it is only the archive and since there are none. I can;t even fihure out how to add a blog when I am logged in as Superuser.

I see all the blog parts but I don't know how I got the part of the blog to show up, I played till it did.

I am sorry , this is just way different and the logic of adding a module seems to be more comlicated than just adding Blog.

Help please. point me in a direction, I don;t mind reading.

I am having the same problem with any of the modules. But its the Blog I am after first.

Thanks

Elbert Dee Walston

 From another post:

"Maybe this (old) trainig video for the general setup of NewBlog could help you."

Here's the link to the training video

Also, consider reading some of the other threads ...

There is only one *set* of blogs in a DNN portal.  There can only be one blog per user.  Any time you drop a "blog" module onto a page you have a "window" into this set of "all blogs" ... you will see any other user's blog if it is set to "public" and, of course, you will have access to your own, regardless of the "public" setting.

This is all presuming of course you have the correct permissions set on a few of the modules ... there are 5 that get added when adding a "blog" module to a page.  Again, check out the video above.

It might help you to create a page, enable view permissions for a group (ex: registered users), *then* add the blog module, add edit permissions (at a minimum) to new_blog component (1 of 5, remember?) for the same group.   Ditto for view_blog component if you actually want to be able to edit your posts later ..

Then, if you are a member of that group, view the page and create a blog (your one and only, save child blogs of course).  Log in as a different user in the same group and repeat.  Soon it will start to make sense.

A DNN blog is a personal blog and the a DNN blog module is *access* to the personal blogs.  These guys say that you can restrict view access to certain blogs for certain user groups ... see "video 8", but I haven't figured it out just yet.  Or coughed up the dough for the tutorial.

Btw, you might also be confused with "edit" the page and "design" ... make sure you have toggled *off* of "design" or you'll drive yourself nuts.

Thanks for the input.

I am not sure why but when I fo to add blog module I don't get a choice ofNew Blog , just Blog and when I add it it does put the archive part up, but non of the rest of the blog info is there.

I will uninstall the module and try installing it again.

Ill let you know.

Thanks

Elbert Dee

"New Blog" is the original name of the module (very old), and this has changed to just "Blog". The article must be quite old and this is why it refer the old module name.
