chammock,

I believe you have more than one cause of "out of memory" error.

The linkclick issue is a separate issue from the XML issue.  This could be due to the version of DNN you are using.

In regards to running out of memory when using XML, the easiest way to explain it is that XML data is treated like an in-memory database.  In order to render an XML file via XSL, the rendering engine need to load the entire XML file (or database) into memory in order to apply the formatting script specified in the XSL file.

The out of memory error does not occur when your server has ran out of memory, rather the asp.net process (aspnet_wp.exe) has reached the memory usage limit as set by your system configuration.  In my setup it is something like 65% of system memory.  I find that right before seeing this out of memory error, I also see a very sluggish response from all asp.net websites on the same server.

ecktwo,

Thanks for the input. I understand what you mean by total memory vs w3wp allocated memory. I need to check and see how that is set in my server. I also did start seeing a bunch of these errors before an app restart this morning.

Any thoughts on this?

I'm also getting this issue a lot (maybe it's related to my users being kicked out from time to time).  This was happening on dnn 3.12 and now on 4.05.03

I just noticed this today from Microsoft : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917495 (FIX: You may receive an OutOfMemoryException exception when you run a .NET Framework 2.0-based application)

I haven't applied it just yet, however I’m not entirely confident that it will resolve my issues as i was receiving this on 3.12 as well??

Anyone?
