Hey fellow DotNetNukers,

I'm having a hard time filtering out information about the Solpart menu and the DNN Menu. Is DNN Menu meant to eventually replace the Solpart menu? What is the history of the two menu solutions? Who chooses which one to use (skin authors or portal admins)? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each?

I see now that DNN Menu is part of the Component :: WebControls project. What I don't understand is how those are used. Are they built in to the latest release, or do they have to be added separately?

To sum up- could somebody please provide a brief overview of the DNN menuing situation? Thank you.

The best way to keep up to speed on the phase out of Solpart menu and phase in of the DNN NavMenu is to read Jon Henning's blogs.

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/BlogID/8/Default.aspx

He goes into detail about what is happening with the menu's and with all of the client-side code he is responsible for, and also links to documentation for anything new he releases.

Thanks for the info, John. I'll definitely be reading his blog entries to get a better grasp on the situation.
