There are many threads about the difficulties of installing and maintaining DNN on GoDaddy shared hosting.  One of my biggest headaches is their lack of MS SQL backup utilities.  This appears to be changing, and could make life much easier for GoDaddy/DNN customers.  I'm posting this thread in case it helps those folks (it certainly could save money by not having to use third-party modules to achieve this).

GoDaddy is now adding the ability to create multiple MS SQL database backups.   These can also be downloaded locally to your hard disk.  There is no limit on how many you create.  Restores can also be performed, but not with .BAK files that were created locally (external to the hosting environment).  The link below shows the steps.  This is not yet available on my account, but GoDaddy support confirms that it will be rolled-out to all windows shared hosting customers "shortly."

Awesome!  Thanks for passing along this info.

For now, I use the free Evotiva backup module:
http://www.evotiva.com/Modules/BackupScript/tabid/57/Default.aspx

It seems to work well, though I admit I've never had to attempt a restore.
