I have a bunch of hidden containers and I have been loading the titles with keywords; I was looking at the source code the other day and believe there is an 'invisibility' like that indicates that I have hidden content. Therefore, I starting thinking that this could be a bad thing.

If you are going to hide the container, do you use a module title?  Any ideas whether or not this is viewed as a (+) or (-) in the grand scheme of things?

In my opinion, I wouldn't say you need a container with a title to get better SEO.  Most containers don't even use H1, H2, H3, etc. elements in the title.

So if you want to do hide the container, then you can still highlight keywords by creating your on title with the content.

I was doing both - loading the container title, which is hidden, with a series of keywords | keywords | keywords. I also changed the container so that the module titles include header tags. Then, within the content of the container, I am also using titles and h1/2/3/4/5 tags.

I just assumed that a container that is set to 'invisible' and being loaded with keywords would count against me by the Google gods...not fond of hidden stuff on websites, I hear, given the abuse by spammers. I am now thinking that I should remove the titles on hidden containers, given that the source code reflects that I am 'hiding' something.

Thoughts?

Are you saying the Title is still in the html source when the container is not visible?

The last I checked, when you set a container not to display it switches out the actual container used to the "no container" container which is just a span tag.

When logged in with editing rights you get the container that is assigned though.

While it's not sooo directly related... I found that a much better practice is to always have Display Container selected and use "blank" container instead - all respectable skin makers are now including it. it allows for a better positioning control and style display. Not to mention that you get to see exactly what it looks like in Edit mode without having to switch over to View.
