Anyone know how to fix this with godaddy hosting. Last night, I was emailing back and forth with support and had no clue what I was talking about and even pointed to this website for a fix. I even logged in as a host and cannot find the directory where the file is located.

I am using GoDaddy hosting too.  My case is even worse.  I first saw the error and then I decided to upgrade and hope that the problem can be fixed.  However, the final result is that I have to re-install from scratch.  I uploaded my backup back to Godaddy, no luck.  Then I uninstalled and reinstalled on the same folder via Metroplis.  No lucky..  I have to re-install under a new folder, and I have to do all the settings from the beginning again.  I was so excited, finish 20% of setup, then try the Blog module again.  Same error occured.  I cannot create any blog entry.  I tried to unstall and reinstall the module.  but again.. no lucky.   Please help.. would like to try anything.

mymobile911,

You really should have to simply REPLACE the file called EditEntry.ascx - that's it - nothing else.

It has been noted on some hosting servers that you need to wait a "while" for it to actually see the effect. Not sure why this is, but some folks have reported this issue.

At this point I would suggest to simply download DNN 4.5.5 and get the blog module version 3.3.1 from that archive which includes this fix.

I may have a fix. I have had no support or help from GoDaddy's people about a possible solution since the file that has the error is unreachable via FTP and any reasonable way we connect to their servers/databases.

I run a news blog and would like to keep as much of a back log of information on my portal as possible. I already had a minimum basic Hosting account and used that to test modules and check compatabilty before installing on my main core which was a Deluxe Hosting account. After checking their value apps on both sides using the test account, and not liking any except for DNN. On a limb, I decided to give it one last try. After installing DNN on this test host site through metropolis, I decided to try to reinstall the blog module with a corrected Edit Entry/ File. This worked on the 4.5.3 install through metropolis, but on my old install 4.3.5 it did not work. To end a long story short, on my main account which was a deluxe hosting account I installed a second version of DNN 4.5.3 and was able to start a new DNN portal, and keep the old crippled portal for historical purposes.

I even tried installing DNN on a virtual server, but got fed up with the install, and did not want the extra tasks to interfere with my Media Server I will have running through the site.

Antonio,

Thanks for the help.  After one last try last night, it works again.  However, I could not recover from my backup.  When I do that, DNN tried to find a backup folder under \config\Backup20078201831\_web.config.  However, that backup folder never exist.  It seems like to me the backup folder is generated by time.  Right now, no clue....

So i can only do a fresh setup again.

Thanks

Anthony
