Hello,

This is my first post here, so be kind :)

I just copied the install files to a hosting on a plesk windows server.

I read the readme and created a SQL database and user

I then altered the web.config file in two places to point to the SQL database.

Tried the browser and got

File D:\inetpub\vhosts\eztest.be\subdomains\dotnetnuke\httpdocs\Portals\_default\\Logs\LogFailures.xml.resources
Error   Access to the path 'D:\inetpub\vhosts\eztest.be\subdomains\dotnetnuke\httpdocs\Portals\_default\Logs\LogFailures.xml.resources' is denied. The Windows User Account listed below must have Read/Write Privileges to this path.

 No prob, Network Service probably does not have the right to D:\inetpub\vhosts\eztest.be\subdomains\dotnetnuke\httpdocs\ so I added Network Service and gave it write/read and modify. I checked the subfolders perms and noticed the folders had inherited perms for the network service account .

After refreshing (CTRL-F5) I still get the same error

Afterward it changed to

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

 Any ideas? Been triying for an hour now...

Thanks,

Jurgen

Have you give the IIS_WP User of your account access,read, write and change permissions, and the IIS Iuser of your account permissions to read and access files?  You must d that for all Folders and files in the virtual dirctory of the Plesk.

Jurgen,

Also do as the error message said and set the customErrors mode="Off" in your web.config file. You will then get a meaningful error message so you know exactly what is going wrong. You will need to change this again before going live but in development you need to see your error messages in their raw beauty.

Hi aarsys,

Thanks for the reply. I did notice the IIS_WP user in my other working asp.net webpages, but cannot find one for this DNN hosting user. As I could not find a lot about IIS_WP user in google I did not know why PLESK did not create one for this Hosting user. ASP.net is enabled.

I set it to ASP.net version 2. Is that correct?

What is the IIS_WP user? the worker process?

When does plesk create a IIS_WP user?

Thanks,

Jurgen

Hi Nick,

Thanks for replying,

I changed the parameter. I have the following error. The double slash in front of dotnetnuke.config strikes me odd. Is that correct?

Access to the path 'D:\inetpub\vhosts\eztest.be\httpdocs\\DotNetNuke.config' is denied.

Pls advise,

Jurgen
