Got it working guys!

THe WP hint was a good one thanks,

I created a separate application pool in plesk, and the WP user got created. I had to manually grant right to that user. And all works now.

Mind you the SQL settings I altered in the web.config file seemed to be forgotten, as the install wizard asked them again.

Thanks! Got my first DNN running! :)

Hi Jurgen,

I agree it looks odd but I think it may be a red herring - it looks like it's finding the file but you still have the basic permissions problem unresolved. Apologies to Tony Valenti if I shouldn't do this but there's an excellent guide to installing DNN at http://www.powerdnn.com/Support/FAQ.aspx under Dedicated Server:How do I install DNN? In particular look at the bits on granting file permissions - it's basically saying exactly what Matthias said but with screenshots showing you what to do and where.

In particular I think your problem might be to do with permissions not being automatically propogated to subfolders - a problem I'm always coming across - the article explains how to actively propogate the permissions.

Good luck.

Nick

Hi aarsys,

Thanks for the reply. I did notice the IIS_WP user in my other working asp.net webpages, but cannot find one for this DNN hosting user. As I could not find a lot about IIS_WP user in google I did not know why PLESK did not create one for this Hosting user. ASP.net is enabled.

I set it to ASP.net version 2. Is that correct?

What is the IIS_WP user? the worker process?

When does plesk create a IIS_WP user?

Thanks,

Jurgen

1.) To set to ASP.NET version 2.0 is right

2.) The IIS WP User is the Worker process User for the application pool

3.) The IIS WP User (IWPD_X(name)  is creating by creating the hosting pool.

Nitice please you can not configure the folder access for the folder httpdocs (Standard Webfolder). You must create a VirtualDirectory and a folder, then setting up the permissions in over the Webfolder settings for the VortualDirectory.

If you like, I have a good Plesk articel in german with images on http://www.dnn-usergroup.de/Community/Artikel/tabid/65/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/12/Default.aspx .

Regards

Matthias
