Please help me setup my Host settings.  I am hosted on a shared server (50% utilization according to easyCGI).  I am trying to figure out how to set the following for the best performance in my environment.

Page State Persistence:

Select the mode to use to persist a page's state. This can either be a hidden field on the Page (Default) or in Memory (Cache).

Module Caching Method:

Memory caching provides the most flexibility and is the highest performance method however it also consumes the most system resources. Disk caching is the least expensive on resources but does not offer any flexibility.

Memory is generally the better option for overall performance.

However.... Increased memory usage could cause more App Restarts depending on the App Pool settings.  Also with a low traffic site/ server you might not see much difference due to this setting.

With low traffic sites you get better (percieved) performance by making sure the App stays loaded in memory and thus visitors don't see the load up delay.

So to be clear you are saying it is better to be on disk for a shared server?

I would be leaning that way yes, especially for a less traffic'd site.

The main thing to remember is that in tuning for performance most changes will have an effect elsewhere.

With smaller sites the biggest impact on 'speed' is due to the App Pool being recycled and visitors waiting for it to be reloaded.
