Hi

I need some help!

I have never upgraded my DNN installation with my host.  And i am a little unsure how to do it as the upgrade installation instructions only refer to a local installation.  Now I know you are going to say that it would be best to upgrade locally before attempting to upgrade my live site.  Unfortunatly my local version is months old and I cannot make a back up of my live site as I only have a 28kbs Internet connection. I know its slow I live in the sticks.

I have made a backup of my web config and I am aware of the changes i need to make to the new one.  The local instructions state that i should unzip the upgrade package over the top of my currrent installation ( using the Overwrite and Use Folder Names options ).   Now becuase this is a hosted enviroment i only have ftp access so i cant use the unzip method.

Can i just unzip the files and then ftp them up to the server

And is thata all I need to do

Thanks, this is rather urgent becuase I have upgraded Ventrian Systems Property Agent and this needs DNN 4.5.5 at least which has resulted in most of my site not working

Thanks

you should first ask your hosting provider, if his FTP server does support unzipping and how to use it. If this is not supported, you can either unzip locally and transfer whole site or try to get remote access to the server and download/unzip from within there.
