Hi, I have gotten AD working properly on my dotnetnuke server.  And I noticed that it only adds users to DNN if they actively go to the page.

I am wondering if there is a way  for the admin(or if it planned in the future) to browse for users in active directory and add them before they connect to the site, for the purpose of assigning them to the proper groups.  I.e. like it's possible for the admin to add standard users before they register.

If this has been asked before, I apologize, I tried searching and couldn't find this question asked before.

You don't need to. If the AD user is direct member to a AD Group, and there is also a DNN group with the same name, the user will be added also to the DNN group. This synchronisation is done on every login. If the administrator  removes the AD user from the AD Group later, the DNN group will also be moved during next login.

Hi Stefan,

Reference to this post, I also have a similar issue for my internal portal. The problem that I have is I do not have access to or manage AD. The roles are not defined in AD, but I have defined them in DNN. How to add the AD user in such a case from admin?

I would highly appreciate if you can provide some tips on achieving this.

Thanks.

You would add them to the role the same way you would add a general DNN user account to a role under Admin->Roles.

Mike,

My query is how do I add a user which exists in AD into to my DNN site from admin? I do not see any dropdown or selection asking for AD option in 'Add New User'. I have the latest released build installed for my internal site.

Thanks.

Regards,

Haroon Mansoori
