Thanks for the test in Konqueror. It is my understanding that Konqueror, even in the latest version, does not support the CSS opacity attribute nor the filter attribute (which is IE only) causing the image to appear mementarily until it is "covered" by four DIVS (which are supposed to be semi-transparent) providing the masking of the area outside the crop box and a DIV with an opacity of 0.01 which "blocks" clicks to the image itself. It is this latter DIV which you are seeing as black in Konqueror. Konqueror may support a khtml-opacity CSS attribute in some versions but I've seen posts indicating problems with that property as well concluding that Konqueror does not support any form of opacity.

Re limiting brightness adjustments to the selected area - that would be possible but would require a bit of extra processing as brightness, contrast, saturation adjustments are now applied to the entire image through a GDI + matrix transform. If there is an overload of the Graphics.DrawImage method that would handle specification of the selection area, I'll implement this.
