The lack of communications and documentation is really easy to explain. The folks on the core/projects team are professional talented developers - they want to write code not blogs, forum posts, documentation, etc. In commercial products it is usually the marketing department (or some form thereof) that does this. The marketing guys talk to the developers until the developers get tired of answering "stupid" questions then the marketing guys wait a week or so and do it again till they have everything they need!

To my knowledge DNN, being an open source project, has no people like this so the developers have to do it. That is why the documentation/communications can be somewhat lacking. Not to mention the developers have other jobs on top of all this. So, you should get used to it until/unless DNN builds projects for both documentation and communications.  A large part of me wants the developers to concentrate on developing rather than documentation/communications but it sure would be nice to have both!  Solution - start the projects and ask for volunteers.
