I would be nice to have the row of buttons that is at the top of Forum "Root Page" at the top and bottom. This would be helpful when you have a lot of Forums; for example The DotNetNuke Fourm ! Also, it would be nice to be able to turn off/on the buttom row of buttons.

Also, if you are editing the Forum from Administration "Mode"  it would nice to have a "Forum Administration" button next to the "Forum Home" to make it quicker to get back to Administration Home.

Hal,

There are a few points here I don't agree with nor do I understand how/why you would do this.  As for the buttons, why do you need this when you have the breadcrumb?  Also, you can modify your container to show the module action of Forum Home.

When it comes to showing/hiding the row of buttons, how would this be possible?  I guess we could use a div and by default have it shown but I am not certain if this is a good or bad thing.

I see no need for the forum administration button next to the home button.  We have a limited amount of space there depending on your site design and the current set is sometimes too large for very small designs.

I'm sorry my suggestions were not clear.... Let me try to give more details...

1. Forum Administration Button

I would be nice to have the "Forum Administration" button at the bottom inside the individual admin "Pages" for "General Settings", "Forum Users", "Manage Forums/Groups", etc. At times I find myself going to one of the Admin "Pages" to check something; then determine that I need to go to another Admin "Page" to make a change that I want. For example let us try the settings permissions of a Forum; I first want to check user info then I want to go to "Manage Forums/Groups" to change a setting. So the only way to get back to the "Root" of the "Forum Administration" is to click on "Forum Home" then hover over "Forum" to get the action window to pop and then choose "Forum Administration". By having the "Forum Administration" button it would save a lot of steps going from one admin page directly to another.

2. Forum Nav Buttons

If you go to DNN web site then click on Forums so that your at HOME. Now let's say you scroll down to the buttom; it's very far down as we have a long list of forums which is a good thing don't get me wrong! Now to get to "My Settings", "My Posts", and "Search" you have then scroll all the way back to the top. If you had the buttons at the buttom of the page between the list of Forums and the Statistics OR after the Statistics; then I could save the time scrolling all the way back.

In terms of options show/hiding these sets of buttons... I mean to say this would be a global setting or in "my settings" so that when the page was rendered you determine if the buttons should be top, bottom or both. The reason I suggest this is cause my small member site only has a hand full of forums and I don't need two sets of buttons at the top and the bottom.

Does any of this help?

I see your point more clearly about 1.  This one does make sense but I have also been concerned with overwhelming the end admin with too many options.

As for 2, I still don't agree with this one.  You can handle the scroll to top or the module action buttons with a container and should not be the responsibility of the module.

Please don't get me wrong, I am all for functionality and making things usesable.  The concern I have is what is the responsibility of the module and what is that of the container or portal.

I don't know if this has been posted before or not, but Unauthenticated/anonymous user posting options would be nice. =)
