Does anyone have any tutorials or blogs on using Subversion with DNN?

I'm not sure there's anything specific to DNN about SubVersion.  I don't use it, but tested it a while back for basic ASP.NET use, and while I personally didn't like it there is a fair size group that does use this for versioning and source control.  In my case I kept banging heads with the Apache runtime it uses, but CVS wasn't any better.  For me SubVersion worked fine as a client, just didn't meet needs as a host.

Might ask on one of the SubVersion mailing lists.

I know it is possible for it to work and work well in .Net.  However, I have yet to set this up myself.  There is a C# web service that I manage from time to time that uses Subversion.

I also had problems with Apache.  My issues were mostly just the fact that I didn't completely understand the suggested structure and set-up of a source control system.

We have now had this running for a couple of weeks now, and I must say that it is the best thing since sliced bread!  Subversion by itself would be horrible, but I opted to use Tortoise in conjunction with Subversion.  The Tortoise documentation is excellent!  It took me through everything step-by-step.  Did you know that Subversion has the ability to run as a windows service?  This way, you can scrap Apache altogether.  This is what I did.  Subversion alone would not work in any windows shop.  But if you throw in something like Tortoise at it, look out!

Thanks for your help.

I've been using Subversion for all my source control at home and at work for about two years now... as somebody else mentioned, there isn't really anything specific or different to do with DNN that with any other project.  The one caveat is if you still run ASP.NET 1.1, you'll need to use the setting to change subversion folders (in Tortoise, noticed you said you use that) to use _svn instead of .svn.

I don't use apache, I use the Windows service and have things set up on my home repository so I can access it through the web (from work or otherwise) because I frequently need to peek at or use my code from home.

You might also look into VisualSVN as a plugin for visual studio if you like the "built-in" support... I personally still prefer using Tortoise though it has some minor issues with Vista and causes Windows Explorer to crash slightly more often than it would anyway (Vista... another topic for another day).
