Hi everyone,

I have searched teh forums and found numerous threads on this subject but I have yet to find something that will work. I have tried just about everything but I cannot get an annoucements module RSS feed to update to the current annoucements content. I have cleared the cache, I have set the search engine scheduler to every 2 minutes, cleared the cache, restarted the application, added and removed the module and annoucements. I have tried setting hte performance settings to "No cache", cleared the cache, restarted the application. No matter what I do the RSS feed will not update. Can any one suggest any other settings or suggestions on how to get the RSS feed to update?

:frustrated:

please verify if the module has a expire date set

I just tested this and found no issues with syndication. Have you tried rss feeds of other core modules? Most core modules use core rss feature, just like announcements does. If it doesn't work for announcements, i would be surprised it it did work for other modules

also, i just thought of something qutie obvious. Please check if the module is viewable for all users. Syndication respects module permissions, if anon. users don't have permissions to view the module, items will not be added to rss

"please verify if the module has a expire date set"
Does this mean I have to set an expiration date for individual items in the announcements module? To this date, I have been using the History (Days) control in the Announcement module settings. That has been easier in the past, as I can make uniform changes for my expiration w/o having to edit each item individually.

By the way, I too am having troubles getting the Announcements mod to syndicate. You can verify on this page: http://www.co.nobles.mn.us/Departments/AdministrationOffice/Commissioners/tabid/780/Default.aspx

and here is the rss feed: http://www.co.nobles.mn.us/Departments/AdministrationOffice/Commissioners/tabid/780/moduleid/1724/RSS.aspx

each dnn module has an expiration date, those are part of the general module settings, not the specific module settings. Since rss works through the search interface, and since search does not index module that have an expire date set, rss will not work properly either.

I did not mean doing anything differently in specific announcements.

To date, i have never found problems with rss with the announcement module, so if rss is not working, it is most probably an issue with the search indexer not running, or ignoring the module alltogether
