Hi,

I have just started developing my own module in DNN 4.6.2. I have been able to create a standard module using the DNN starter kit. This kit generated a view-mode and an edit-mode. I have edited the view-mode file (a .ascx file) and have been able to insert some code for an input field. Now I want to submit this input field and make some calculations based on the input data and return the result in another text field in the same page. I have connected the input field to a function in the corresponding asxc.vb file as shown below. My problem is that I cant find a way to return the result to the text input field. Maybe the function Price_click is never called? How can I debug this? Please help...

code from price.ascx.
<asp:textbox id="number" runat="server" CssClass="flexet_inputfield"/>
<asp:textbox id="result" runat="server" CssClass="flexet_inputfield"/>
<asp:button ID="calc" CssClass="button1" text="Get price >" runat="server"/>

code from price.ascx.vb
Public Sub Price_click(ByVal Sender As System.Object, ByVal E As System.EventArgs) Handles calc.Click
   result.Text = "99"
End Sub

Regards,
Guy

It appears you have this coded correctly. The problem may be module caching. Log in as administrator and see if it works. If it works, the module has caching enabled. Set the caching to 0 and click the update link in the module configuration settings for the module.

Thank you for your response Sebastian,

I have been reading some of the tutorial, but I am stuck at this scenario I have described. I will keep browsing the tutorials in order to solve this problem.

Thank you for your response Michael.

My module has caching disabled. I have also tried to set the caching to -1, but no good. Is there a way to trace/log whether the click function is fired up or not?

Do I need to put the textbox input fields in a form, somehow? When I try this, I get an error message telling me there can be only one form. So it looks like the dnn framework includes a form for me by default.
