Hi!

I've a site running DNN 4.5 and want to upgrade it to 4.8.

I've read in another thread that's better to upgrade to 4.6.2 first and then to 4.8. (Thanks for this!)

But my question is, is it possible to do it with only FTP access? and if it is, how?

Thanks in advance!

To upgrade with FTP access I would recommend the following

First: DOWNLOAD EVERYTHING, make a complete backup of your site.

Second: BACKUP THE DATABASE (download this as well)

Third: Upload an app_offline.htm file to take the site down (make this a pretty message)

Fourth: Make the web.config changes to the new files.

Fifth: Upload your new site files

Last Step: remove the app_offline file.
