We're moving our interal DNN site from a desktop server to a virtual server.  I setup the server with IIS 6, .NET 2.0, but ran into trouble migrating the site.

So I decided to try a fresh install with SQL Express.  After setting it all up and trying to run the install, I get a 404 error and in the event viewer, I get the following error from ASP.NET 2.0.50727...

Event code: 3005

I'm at my wits end here, not sure why it's not working.  Don't think it's the virtual server part, because we've used one before to set up a test site.  Not sure what I could be forgetting...

Have you changed anything with the buffer value in the machine.config, web.config, or the page directive?

no, the only thing I changed in the web.config file was the strings for the database connector.  I suppose I can try to re-do the files from scratch and make a copy of the original web.config file before modifying for the DB strings.

I am not entirely sure that this is a problem with DNN or the web.config though.  When I step through the error you posted, it looks like the server might not be configured correctly, but I am not sure where.  :(
