hehe, i found the module you are talking about, i see what you mean, it does exactly that but handles the redirect through code rather than IIS.

either way I'm sorted!

DNN Shortcut

http://www.snowcovered.com/snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=6290

Tip: If you want to use names like www.domain.com/name then don't enter a shortcut folder in the module settings, otherwise it creates the links as www.domain.com/shortcutfolder/name

It had me scratching my head for a bit anyway :-)
