Hi All,

we are in the process of using dotnetnuke for content management system. We already having a site running and we would like to use DNN for one of our sections only.

We already have a site running and we would like to use DNN Content managemenet system for maintaning contents(eg..news, blogs, forums, tips etc)

The most importanly we also power up(rebrand) other sites using our content which will also hosted by us. Basically they provide a sub domain link which will be poiting to their site which is hosted by us.

For: eg
Our site name is www.mysite.com and we will use the same site files for

http://autos.abc.com or http://autos.xyz.com

At present what we are doing is we copy www.mysite files and copy it into folders(eg: abc, xyz) create website in IIS as autos.abc.com or autos.xyz.com and point to same www.mysite.com sql server database. Basically its the same (www.mysite) except the header and footer changes. We need to achieve the same sub domain name site content section support as well through DNN.

Please let me know how to achieve this?
Thanks,
Binu

This setup is easily achieved using child portals. Setup IIS and DNN, set the host headers and DNS info  of ALL of the domains that you need pointed to this instance of DNN/IIS, and then within DNN create the necessary portals for each domain.

Just to recap on the question before I try and answer you require a set of sites i.e autos.abc.com and autos.xyz.com to contain the same content as the main parent site except that the skins would be different for each?

In thats scenario as was previously mentioned using "child" portals would allow you to have a portal for each address though thats not exactly what your after... Technically as each of the sub dominas is a separated domain they are not infact child portals but "parent" portals. To add each one simply login to DNN as host or a superuser and select portas from the host menu and add portal.
I'm currently running somwhere in the region of 36 portals on a single instance in this manner.

To be able to replicate content accross portals you would either need to maunally replicate the content as you already do or you could look for a module that is capable of "sharing" the content between portals. Such as Ethuongmai Content Sharing 2 ( please note I haven't used this module neither to I represent them in any way ).

Hope this helps

Thank you for helping me Christopher and John.

autos.abc.com and autos.xyz.com should  contain the same content from the parent site (eg: www.mysite.com)

My worry is how do I map it in IIS? www.mysite.com has classifieds, automotive compare info etc) and DNN will be used in a section(blog, forums, news etc) of mysite.com

Also we need to delver the same content to autos.abc.com and autos.xyz.com

Any tips or tricks will be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Binu
