My DNN site that we have is running very sluggish. We have it on a Windows 2003 Server, with 1GB of RAM, DNN version 4.62.

Are there settings that can be made within DNN or IIS or SQL Server, ...etc.  that will help to maybe speed this up?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes there are things that can be done, but without knowing your current configuration/settings it would be hard to just give a blanket answer.

If you would like you can drop me an e-mail msellers@iowacomputergurus.com and we can discuss some methods to help.

Look at performance counter (example RAM, CPU usage) and see what the bottle neck are.  Here are a few suggestions:

  • 1GB of RAM is low.  Upgrade to 4GB should help immediately.  Windows 2003 can address up to 4GB memory
  • If you have IIS and MS SQL server on the same box, consider have separate box, one for web server and one for database.
  • Run MS SQL built in SQL profiler to monitor long running sql.  It could be 3rd party modules causing problem.
