Hi,

I've just created a clean install of DNN 4.8.2 and when I went to add an instance of the HTML module I noticed it wasn't there, it was also not listed in the module definitions as an option to install. So I downloaded the 4.08.01 install for the HTML module and attempted to install it - it gets almost to then end before failing with the following error

Info Created C:\Inetpub\vhosts\theoriginalskibz.com\httpdocs\dnn\DesktopModules\HTML\HtmlModule.ascx

When I looked on the server all the files look to be present and correct in the DesktopModules/HTML folder

I alos tried upgrading a 4.7 install to 4.8.2 and then upgrading the html module to 4.08.01 which did work - can anyone point to a possible cause in the configuration? I;ve been able to install other modules (announcments, blog, housemenu) without error

Any help much appreciated

Cheers

Richard

make sure, the installer is able to create app_code/html sub directory and has permission to alter web.config (which shll not be write protected).

I found out what the problem was - it was my own fault, the hint to check the web.config permissions got me investigating what it was doing with the file and of course its adding the necessary codeSubDirectory element to the compilation structure

The error was because the code (having the source code helped!) was looking for the section of xml using the path:

configuration/system.web/compilation

but because I was running the app under another existing app I'd added wrapped the system.web element within a location element and so that section was not being found

Once I'd removed the location elements it all worked

thanks for the reply it pointed me in the write direction

Cheers

Richard
