We have been having some errors on our DNN 3.3.7 forums.

1.  We have had our forums live for years, now we get an error everytime you click to go there.  If you goto www.multispecies.com and click on our forums you'll see it.  Here's what error it gives on the "page load exception" event from the log viewer.

We have also been having troubles with the times being off by nearly a day for over a year.  Not as big a deal, but we have checked the settings, the servers, everything.  Is there a fix to this or both of these errors?  Or do we need to restore to a couple days ago?  We don't want to lose all our posts.

Should we upgrade to the newest DNN 4.8 and if so will we lose anything in the forums on the upgrade?  Or could it fix the times?

Thanks

It's a bot issue from google.  You can prvent it with create a robot.txt. in the root folder.  Also I recommand a upgrading to the DNN 4.8.2 and new Forum Module.  For DNN Frums 3.x we will no longer provides updates.

Can we upgrade to DNN 4.8.2 and keep all our posts?  And when upgrading to DNN 4.8.2 does the forums module automatically upgrade?  Or do we need to upgrade it separately, once we are at DNN 4.8.2?  And of course, we don't want to lose our posts todate.

Thanks,..

Accepted Answer

First of cause you can upgrade.  But before upgrading it is recomanded that you make a complete backup of the database, and the files.

From DNN 3.3.7 I suggest to upgrade in more steps.  I:E:  DNN 4.0.0  >> DNN 4.4  >> DNN 4.6 >> DNN 4.8.2   I like to suggest to upgrade the Forum on DNN 4.6 .

If all running without errors you don't lose your data of the forum.  Allso it is dangeres to forgot to move the MachineKeys in the new web.Config file.

Please read the Install manuel of DNN, and the blogs.  some information are in "Install it" Forum too.
