dnn is installed and working fine. I added a virtyal directory and install another web application onto the IIS server. once I try and hit those pages I get all sorts of errors. it's like any other web app I put onto IIS reads dnn's web config file not it's own. can multi web applications sit on the same IIS server as dnn? if so how?

any help would be apprecitaed

thanks

the problem is that virtual directories inherit settings from the root web folder's web.config (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178685.aspx for details). To fix this you typically add a web.config file in each virtual directory and clear out the inherited entries i.e.

<httpModules>
<clear />
</httpModules>

ok, that makes sense.

should dnn run from the root right under the default website or should that also be moved into a virtual folder?

it's completely up to you, virtuals only inherit from the parent folder, so you can run dotnetnuke in either.
