The first time I went to my new DNN site, I logged in as "admin" and was able to work on my site.  The second time I went back to the site, the login button didn't work!  It just reloaded the same page that was already up, and no login fields appeared.  I've tried it again and again.  All of the other buttons and links on the page work, including the "register" button, but since I can't log in as admin (or as anything) I can't work on my site at all!

Does anyone know why it's doing that?

Did you change the Login page on the site settings? Seems you did...
If you want to personalize the login page you have to add a login module onto the new page otherwise you will not be able to login again.

The only way to reset this is directly accessing the database. You have to set the LoginTab field on the Portals table back to the NULL value it had before.
Then restart the app so the change is noticed (editing the file web.config will do, just edit and save this file).

I just did the same thing, and have spent a VERY long time trying to fix it too.  I didn't quite understand the solution to this problem that was provided by another person:  "Did you change the Login page on the site settings? What exactly does this entale, and how do I do it?  I am stumped!!  Can you please help!  I can be reached at 888-242-2685 or at 678-567-9156, or at rob@tracsreport.com .

Thanks for anything you can do!

Rob, if you still have this problem and cannot figure how to solve you can contact me on MSN at vmasanas @ hotmail . com.

Let me try again:
DNN allows you to personalize how it handle authorization. This means you can build your own module to authorize users and/or create a personalized page where you will put some info and a login control.
This is what you do, when you set the Login Page on site settings to something other than the default (Not Specified = use the builtin behaviour).
So if you personalize this setting to any page, the given page will be presented when any user tries to login. So if you don't add EXPLICITELY a login control to that page noone will be able to login, because the framework expects you have customized that page to include whaever login control you desire, so it will not inject the usual one.

To reset this behaviour, you have to blank out that field and restart the app since this setting is cached and will not take effect until the cache is cleared. To restart any ASP.NET app a simple edit on the web.config causes the recycle of the app and the restart.

What would the query be to set the field to Null?
