Folks,

I'd like to use DNN for building a site, but I don't want the 'general public' to see the login link. How can I build my site so I can edit it but not present the link to world ?

I'm only just starting with DNN so it might be hidden away and I've missed it.

Thanks

Systemshark

You can build a custom login page first ... then remove the login control from the default skin you're using for your pages, then set the skin of your login page a normal skin that contains the login control, so you can use the address of your custom login page for both login and logout.

the login link is a skin element - if you create a skin without the Login element, it wouldn't show up to your users. You can then either bookmark the login page before you remove the element from the skin and use that to log into your site

OR
you could position the login element at some location on the page where it's not obvious and make it transparent...

Different ways to skin the same cat...

Hey systemshark,

The 'quick and dirty' approach is just to leave the login out altogether and go to http://www.yourwebsite.com/Default.aspx?ctl=login to log in. (manually add the ?ctl=login to the URL).

If you're the only one logging in to DNN, just bookmark it and leave it out of your website altogether.

Take care,

Ian

Thank Ian.

This looks like the quickest and simplest.... since I'm in the process of learning 'skinning' I like this option.
